The picture above is a Major Sector. So you have to use the formula, A = θ/360×π×r² where r represent the radius of the circle :


area = (θ)/(360) * \pi * {r}^(2)

Let θ be 225°,

Let r be 8 km,


A = (225)/(360) * \pi * {8}^(2)


A = (5)/(8) * \pi * 64


A = 40\pi \: {km}^(2)


A = 126 \: {km}^(2) \: (3s.f)

Answer:

Area of circle: S =pi*(8^2)=64pi=201.06

Area of sector: S = pi*(8^2)*(225/360)=40*pi = 125.66
