Answer:

  • Original equation

1/2y + 1 = 2

  • Subtract 1 on the side

1/2y + 1 - 1 = 2 - 1

  • Out

1 - 1 is equal to 0

  • keep

2 - 1 help to solve you the y-value

  • New equation

1/2y = 2 - 1

  • Simplify

1/2y = 1

  • Multiply the both sides

1/2y * 2 = 1 * 2

  • cancel out

1/2 * 2 it will give you 1

  • keep

1 * 2 It will give the y-value

  • Equation

y = 2 * 1

  • Simplify

y = 2

The answer is

y = 2

Hey there!

ORIGINAL EQUATION:

1/2y + 1 = 2

SUBTRACT 1 to BOTH SIDES:

1/2y + 1 - 1 = 2 - 1

CANCEL OUT: 1 - 1 because it give you 0

KEEP: 2 - 1 because it help solve for the y-value

NEW EQUATION: 1/2y = 2 - 1

SIMPLIFY IT!
1/2y = 1

MULTIPLY 2 to BOTH SIDES

1/2y * 2 = 1 * 2

CANCEL out: 1/2 * 2 because it give you 1

KEEP: 1 * 2 because it give you the y-value

NEW EQUATION: y = 2 * 1

SIMPLIFY IT!
y = 2

Therefore, your answer is: y = 2

Good luck on your assignment & enjoy your day!
