Multiply the first equation by 2, that gives you the second.

x+5y=4
2x+10y=8
x=
-5y+4
2(-5y+4) +10y=8 substituted in the equation for x
-10y+8+10y=8 distributed
8=8 combined like terms (-10y+10y)
0=0
MANY SOLUTIONS/INFINITE
