1. Divide both sides by 5

4x - 1 =

(80)/(5)

2. Simplify
(80)/(5) to 16

4x - 1 = 16

3. Add 1 to both sides

4x = 16+1

4.
Simplify 16 + 1 to 17

4x = 17

5. Divide both sides by 4

x = (17)/(4)

Were done! Decimal Form Would Be 4.25

5(4x-1) = 80

20x - 5 = 80

20x - 5 + 5 = 80 + 5

20x = 85

20x/20 = 85/20

X = 85/20

X = 17/4 if reduced to lowest terms by dividing both the top and bottom number by 5.
