Reading between the lines in The Tragedy of Macbeth, Act III, Scene i, explain how Macbeth has apparently managed to claim the

Scottish throne even though Malcolm and Donalbain are closer relatives to the slain King Duncan.

Answer:

Malcolm and Donalbain fleeing made it so that they were seen as very suspicious. Thus they were blamed for the death and murder of the former king Duncan. This meant that Macbeth could easily become the king, due to being a distance relative of Duncan. He was able to then claim the throne.

Answer:

When Macbeth poisoned? King Duncan he framed the king's guards. When the sons found out their dad was dead and thought the guards did it, they fled before the guards can blame them because they thought that was going to happen. And usually when someone flees a scene very quickly after finding bad news they're racked up with guilt so if they were to come back they would be incriminated for their father's death.
