well if the variable p became 0 the term 4p would look more like this 4(0) or 4 * 0 making the answer be 0

If the variable was changed into 1 the term 4p would become 4(1) or 4 * 1 as of such the answer would be 4.

now if you are raising p to a 0 so the term is more like this: 4p to the power of 0 then your answer would be 1. Because p would change to 0.

Now if you had 4p to the raised power of 1 then your answer would be 4 because p was changed to a 4.
