If there were no state government, the U.S. would be one chaotic country. Why? Well, without the government, there are no branches to create, interpret, and execute laws. This means there are no boundaries set for the citizens to follow and that a lot of people will be prone to criminal activity. Additionally, in the absence of a state government, taxes would not be able to be collected, financially putting the country in bankruptcy. To simplify this, if the United States had no state government, things would occur as if we were living under the guidelines of the Articles of Confederation. National power would conquer, and too much conflict among citizens would knock the country collectively into the dirt. If there were no state government, there probably wouldn’t be a U.S. to begin with.
