Jake bought two shirts and one pair of pants for six dollars mike bought one shirt and one pair of pants for four dollars how much is each shirt and each pair of pants the system of equations used to solve this would be 2X plus Y equals six and X plus Y equals four

Shirts and pants are both $2 each.
Using the elimination method, we can solve this system of equations. You must find a common multiple of both equation for either x or y. I chose to multiply equation 2 by (-2) so that the x would be eliminated, allowing us to solve for y.
