HELP PLEASE! :)

Every 10 seconds, a vacuum pump can remove 3% of the gas contained in a chamber. How many minutes will it take the pump to remove 99% of the gas initially in the chamber?

My work for this:

f(x) = 100%-3x

3x/3=(100-99)=1/3

3x/3=1/3

x=0.35% or 3 seconds to remove 99% of gas.

Answer:

6.5 minutes

Explanation:

Given :

10 seconds to remove 3% of the total gas contained

============================================================

Solving :

⇒ Time taken to remove 99% of the gas = 99%/3% × 10 seconds

⇒ Time taken = 33 × 10 = 330 seconds

⇒ Time taken = 6 minutes 30 seconds

⇒ Time taken = 6.5 minutes
