(4)(2x)+(4)(-1) = 11+3x+5

distribute

8x+(-4) = 11+3x+5

8x−4=(3x)+(11+5) Combine Like Terms

8x−4=3x+16

8x−4=3x+16

Subtract 3x from both sides.

8x−4−3x=3x+16−3x

5x−4=16

Add 4 to both sides.

5x−4+4=16+4

5x=20

Divide both sides by 5.

5x/5 = 20/5
