Answer:
2 * 7 * 7
Explanation:
write 98 down on a page then draw to small lines coming from 9 and 8 then go through the numbers,
start with the biggest number before 10 that goes into 98
if u dont know times tables that well then u can count on ur fingers from the 12th times table of the number,
so we know that 7 times 12 is 84 so we'll go from their since 84 is pretty close to 98
add on 7 from 84 to get 91
then add on 7 again which gets you to 98
so now we know that 7 times 14 is 98 we can write down 7 underneath the line under 9 and 14 under the other line
because 7 is prime we circle 7
next draw 2 lines coming down from 1 and 4
now we need to work out what 2 numbers go into 14
so we need another number between 10 that goes into 14,
this time dont times the number by 12 but times it by 1 or 2
so we know that 7+7 is 14 so the other number is 2
where you've drawn the lines on the first line write 7 (it doesnt really matter, but this was the way i wrote the numbers)
then write 2 on the next line
since 7 and 2 are both prime numbers we can circle them
now just write them from smallest to biggest (2*7*7)
to check our answer we can times the numbers together
7 times 7 = 49, 49 times 2 = 98
if you dont have a calculator at hand then for the first multiplication just remember this rhyme "I'm hungry I'm hungry it's time to dine, seven times seven is 49!"
and for the second multiplication just use column addition method
(write down 49 twice then to one side write a plus, and underneath draw a line and then add them together, so 9 add 9 is 18 so write 8 and write 1 two spaces underneath the line, and then add up 4 and 4 so 4+4 = 8 but instead of writing 8 we add 1 onto 8 to get 9, once you have done that you can just cross out the 1 to show that you've carried it over!)
Hope this helps, I'm not that good at maths but I tried!
