In one or two paragraphs, describe two ongoing challenges in western Africa that result at least partly from its history and relations with European powers. Do you think the region can overcome these challenges? Why or why not? Please answer!!

Answer:

Countries from Europe colonized the west African people not considering they might not have the same religion or language. They didn’t care so they just put people in colonies which made the west African people not trust each other, and the tribes already had territorial borders splitting groups away from other groups, but the European countries just made new borders mixing people together and causing conflict that last to this day.

Answer: The vast majority of armed conflicts in West Africa since independence have been intrastate conflicts, marked by 5 large-scale civil wars. The main problem is internal conflict, but other stresses include youth inclusion, migration, the rapid development of extractive industries, and land management.

I don't think region alone can change much, but the further away from the European settlements you get, the less their influence remains. So in regions further from where there was previous European settlement, there's going to be less issues.
