They both reside in the same house in their forties and are still unmarried.
1. The fact that both characters are old enough to be married but aren't creates a sense of surprise in an avid reader because such a circumstance is uncommon in society.
2. Both siblings are said to live in the same house, which they inherited. Another surprise for the reader is that grownup siblings can live in the same house for an extended period of time.
