this could be staged by, when you read the script you see that the charaters

had goals and when one of them aheved that goal but the other did not it causes a rift in the charaters relashionship or friendship. This is shown through body movements and languge.

This scene is very dramatic because the characters have drama in them. Milli is in a situation where there are no choices. She has to do what she is told but Ani is trying to convince her not.
