Find the slope.
m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
Plug in the y-coordinates of each of the ordered pairs. That is 4 and -2
Plug in the x-coordinates of each of the ordered pairs. That is -4 and 5
m=(4-(-2))/(-4-5)
m=6/-9
m=-2/3
Now that you know the slope, you want to take one of the ordered pair and plug them into the equation y=mx+b. I’ll take (-4,4). You want to find the b.
4=-2/3(-4)+b
4=8/3+b
4/3=b
So, the slope is -1/3 and the y-intercept is 4/3.
Equation: y=-2/3x+4/3
