According to the table, when you insert 6, it should give 1 as the area covered. The equation can be found by the slope formula, the change in y over the change in x. Which is in one increase in y, leads to 6 increase in x.

In that case, the equation holds. The same thing, when you put 12 to x. Gives you 2 as the area covered.
