So now we subtract the amount of money for the beads and the total cost of the necklaces 12.40 - 5.6 = 6.8

So 6.8 was the amount of money that is left for the pendants. Now that we know that we have to divide that by 2 to find out how much money did Carlos spend for each pendant,

6.8÷2= 3.4

So Carlos spent 3 dollars and 4 cents on each pendant.
