Answer: Responses will vary. A sample response follows: According to the Fifth and Fourteenth amendments to the Constitution, the government cannot violate anyone’s life, liberty, or property without giving them due process. Due process says that everyone must be aware of the laws, and that all laws must be enforced equally. An accused person must be informed of the charges against them, and they have a right to a fair trial which includes, among other things, counsel (a lawyer), an impartial jury, and the right to question witnesses.
