I believe that the electoral college should not be used for the election of the president of the republic.

Step-by-step explanation:

The electoral college was created as a group of men who had sufficient access to information and education, making them to have an intellectual development superior to that of the majority of the population, being then, the union members more able to choose the president of the republic. However, this was a reality hundreds of years ago. Currently, all citizens, or at least, most American citizens have access to information and education, being fully capable of assuming their democratic responsibilities, such as choosing the best candidate for president.

In addition, we know that within politics, there is a big game of corruption, which can prevent members of the electoral college from acting according to the preferences of the population.
