Answer:

First off, the first question 17 gives you all of your info, the equation of slope-intercept form is y=mx+b when m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. So 17's slope is 6, and the y-intercept is -8.

Question 18:

This one is as simple as the first, but a bit more challenging. You have to do the addition property of equality by adding 5 to both sides to get everything in one place. The equation should look like 5x-y+5

Then you can add y to both sides of the current equation to get everything in the y=mx+b format. After adding y, it should look like 5x+5=y

Looks familiar?

Its the same equation in mx+b except y is on the right side. Does that matter? Nope.

The equation can be rearranged as y=5x+5

So the slope would be m, and the y-intercept should be b.

The answer is right here and I will leave you to figure them out.

18's equation is y=5x+5 and slope intercept form is y=mx+b when m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

Answer:

17.

Slope = 6

y intercept = negative 8

18.

Slope = 5

y intercept =5

Explanation:

The equation for slope is y= mx + b.

y is just a number.

m represents the slope.

x is also just a number, don't worry about x and y.

b is the y intercept.

Take 17.

y = 6x - 8

6 would be your slope and negative 8 would be the y intercept.

Because there is a minus sign, this means 8 is a negative.

So the slope is 6 and the y intercept is negative 8

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

18 is just the slope equation, but in a different form.

1. Add y to both sides

2. add 5 to both sides.

Our equation is now y = 5x + 5.

The slope is 5 and so is the y intercept
