The single dashes indicate that each of those lines are equivalent

The double dashed lines are equal to each other

Because there are 6 single dashed lines that are all equal to 4 yards, and 2 double dashed lines that are both equal to 9 yards, your equation will look like this:

(4 x 6)+(9 x 2)=p

now just solve this using the order of operations

4 x 6 = 24 and 9 x 2 = 18 and 18 + 24 = 42 so p = 42yds.
