Marcella and Sam were asked to write an equivalent expression to 12g + 18 using factoring. Marcella wrote 3(4g + 6) and Sam wrote 6(2g + 3). Whose expression is correct? Explain.

Answer: They are both correct.

Explanation:

3(4g+6) which is 3 times 4g equals to 12g. 3 times 6 which is 18. So that one equals to 12g+18. Then the next one is 6(2g+3), which is 6 times 2g, which is also 12g. Then 6 times 3 which is 18. So it would also be 12g+18.
