The line parallel to this equation would be y=3x+25

Explanation:

A parallel line has the same slope but a different y-intercept (so just ignore the "-1" in the equation ) Our goal is to find the y-intercept ("b")

We will start with

y=3x+b, plug in (-9,-2) for the x and y

-2=3(-9)+b

-2=-27+b, add 27 to both sides

-2+27=-27+27+b (the 27's on the right side cancel side)

b=25

our new equation is y=3x+25
