x = 48, y = 70

Explanation:

Since 2 sides are congruent, then the triangle is isosceles and the base angles are congruent, thus

x + 7 = 55 ( subtract 7 from both sides )

x = 48

The sum of the 3 angles in a triangle = 180°

Subtract the sum of the 2 angles from 180 for y, that is

y = 180 - (55 + 55) = 180 - 110 = 70
