Answer:

x = 16

Explanation:

1/2(x-4) = 1/3(x+2)

Multiplying through by the LCM,6 to take off the denominators;

6 × 1/2(x-4) = 6 × 1/3(x+2)

Simplifying;

3(x-4) = 2(x+2)

3x -12 = 2x + 4

Grouping like terms;

3x - 2x = 4 + 12

x = 16

Distribute the 1/2 and 1/3 to the numbers in the parentheses 1/2x-2=1/3x+2/3
You have to multiply both sides with 6 so it would become 3x-12=2x+4, subtract two on both sides x-12=4, add 12 on both sides
X=16
