Hydrogen is located in Group 1 on the periodic table. Is it therefore considered a metal?

1. Yes because it is a poor conductor of heat therefore it must be a metal.
2. Yes because it forms diatomic molecules and this is characteristic of metals.
3. No, it readily loses one electron to form +1 ions and is therefore placed in Group 1.
4. No, because it only has one valance electron.
