Answer:

One of the man themes of "A Wedding Gift" is overcoming adversity and fear.

Step-by-step explanation:

One of the man themes of "A Wedding Gift" is overcoming adversity and fear. Jacques was afraid of marriage and commitment because of his past relationship. "For a long time Jacques Bourdillere had sworn that he would never marry, but he suddenly changed his mind." When he met Berthe he immediately fell in love, but that meant he had to overcome his fear and promise he made to himself. And he worked for it through the approval of Berthes parents "Her parents hesitated for a long time, restrained by the young man's bad reputation." At the end of the story he had to overcome his biggest fear, to have a child of his own. On his wedding day he had no choice to face it "I—I have a child and the mother has just died." Lucky he didn't have to overcome raising a child on his own thanks to the fact he got over his fear of getting married. "Then Berthe murmured: "Well, we will bring up the little one." And now he has a life with love and purpose.
