Answer:

x = -2

Explanation:

Step 1: Distribute 0.5 to (4x - 6) which equals 2x - 3

Step 2: Subtract 2x from both sides, which gives you -3 = 9x +15 (You could also subtract 11x from both sides which would give you -9x - 3 = 15)

Step 3: Subtract 15 from both sides which gives you -18 = 9x

Step 4: Then you would divide both sides by 9 which will leave you with -2 = x

Answer: x = -2

Follow BEDMAS (aka PEMDAS among other names), and get rid of the brackets by expanding.

0.5(4x – 6) = 11x + 15

2x - 3 = 11x + 15 (Move all the terms with a variable of 'x' to one side)

2x - 11x = 15 + 3

-9x = 18 (Divide both sides by -9 to isolate for x)

x = -2
