4. i think the desire for wealth is more of a personal desire. back then in the 1800s, i think it was more of a patriotic thing to want to be wealthy. that was what let people know you "made it in life", it was the american dream to be rich and people moved from all places in the world to america to chase opportunities to strike rich. i think now in the modern day, being the desire of being wealthy is a personal issue.
