What’s the substitution

You can subtract 2y from both sides of the first equation and then plug that (x = 7 -2y) into the second one to get:

14 - 4y + y = 5 -->

14 - 3y = 5 -->

-3y = -11 -->

y = 11/3 -->

x = 2/3
