When graphing a parabola, you always use the opposite of k in vertex form: y = a (x-h)^2 + k

False is the answer

Answer: False

The value of k is the y coordinate of the vertex and you don't apply the opposite.

For instance, y = 2(x-5)^2 + 19 has vertex (h,k) = (5,19)

Here k = 19 is the y coordinate of the vertex. We don't use -19.
