At times in the Indian empire, the government employed spies (who were citizens) to spy on fellow merchants and other citizens. Would this be something that you would be willing to do? Even if it meant turning in a friend that was doing something illegal?

Answer:

1. I would be willing to spy for the government.

2. Yes, I would turn in a friend who was doing something illegal.

Step-by-step explanation:

Even though espionage or spying is a clandestine activity, when I am backed by the government to do it for the good of my country, I would do it as a patriot. Spying is the act of infiltrating the ranks of perceived enemies of an institution to obtain information that would be useful for the side the spy belongs to.

If the Indian empire suspected wrong activities in their country and employed me as a citizen to spy for them, I would be willing to do that. If a friend was doing something illegal, I would warn him repeatedly to desist from it, but if he refused, I would turn him in.
