The price of Stock A at 9 A.M. Was ​$14.17. Since​ then, the price has been increasing at the rate of ​$0.11 each hour. At noon the price of Stock B was ​$14.67. It begins to decrease at the rate of ​$0.16 each hour. If the two rates​ continue, in how many hours will the prices of the two stocks be the​ same?

We are told that at 9am, the price of Stock A was ​$14.17 and we are told it increases by $0.11 each hour.

Thus, for x hours, the price will be;

P_a = 14.17 + 0.11x

Now,by noon, it would have been 3 hours.

Thus;

P_a = 14.17 + 0.11(3)

P_a = 14.17 + 0.33

P_a = $14.50

Now, at that same noon, another product known as stock B had a price of ​$14.67. We are told it begins to decrease at the rate of ​$0.16 each hour.

Now, we want to find how many how many hours will the prices of the two stocks be the​ same. If the number of hours is x, this means that;.

14.5 + 0.11x = 14.67 - 0.16x

Rearranging,we have;

0.11x + 0.16x = 14.67 - 14.5

0.27x = 0.17

x = 0.17/0.27

x = 0.63 hours
