To solve this, pick any point on the graph, I’m choosing (1,2) but it doesn’t matter

Next, sub in these numbers in the equation with the other point needed (x,5)

(5-2)/(x-1)

We already know the slope is 3 so this is equal to 3

Now we multiply both sides by the denominator (x-1) to cancel out the fraction

So now it’s

5-2=3(x-1)

Simplify

3=3x-3

Solve for x

6=3x

X=2
