I personally believe that campaign commercials have there ups and downs. While yes you do learn more about the candidate, they are also stepping on their opponent(s). Some candidates don't do this but most do.
Political advertising acts as a huge influence on voters during elections because the first bad thing they hear about the other candidate they have made up their mind if that makes sense. I feel like a lot of campaign leaders make up random stuff about their opponent to get the voters on their side.
