Then the length will be 2a as it's twice as wide as it's long.

The formula for perimeter is 2(L+W)

If we subsitute the algebra/numbers in we get

P = 2(L+W)

30 = 2(2a+a)

30 = 2(3a)

30 = 6a

5 = a

a = 5cm

Then the area is the following

A = LW

A = 2a(a)

A = (2(5))(5)

A = 10(5)

A = 50cm squared
