Explanation:

A = lw/2

We know that the width is 8cm, and that the length of the rectangle and triangle combined is 14cm.

How we find the length of the triangle itself is 14cm - 6cm, since 6cm is the rectangles length (which we know because it gives it to us at the top!)

14cm - 6cm = 8cm

Now we can plug into our formula and solve

A = 8(8)/2

A = 64/2

A = 32²cm
