Answer: x = 36

===============================

Work Shown:

2x+108 = 180

2x+108-108 = 180-108

2x = 72

2x/2 = 72/2

x = 36

-------

Notes:

  • The reason 2x and 108 add to 180 is because they form a straight angle
  • In step 2 above, I subtracted 108 from both sides
  • In the second to last step above, I divided both sides by 2.
  • The general steps to solving any equation is to follow PEMDAS in reverse to isolate the variable.

Given : There is a line . It is divided into two parts by another line such that it forms two angles on two sides of the angle which are 2x° and 108° .

To Find : The value of x .

Solution : Given that the two angles are 2x and 108° . So , we know that the measure of a straight line is 180° . So the sum of the two angles will be also equal to 180°. That is ;

\large\boxed{\red{\bf \angle 1 + \angle 2= 180^(\circ)}}

  • Where
    \angle1 and
    \angle2 are two angles .

⇒ 2x° + 108° = 180° .

⇒ 2x° = 180° - 108° .

⇒2x° = 72°.

⇒ x =
\sf (72)/(2)

x = 36° .

Hence the value of x is 36° .
