The elements of a crime are criminal act, criminal intent, concurrence, causation, harm, and attendant circumstances. Only crimes that have a bad after effect have the elements of cause and harm. Arguments most commonly used is "my client didn't do it", "my client did it, but is not responsible for said crime because they are insane.", "My client has a good reasoning behind it.", and lastly "My client has been influenced by outside forces such as the police to do this crime".
