(the length times the height=the diagonal)

So, 24^2 + 18^2=something

24^2=576

18^2=324

576+324= 900

square root of 900=30

so, c equals 30

therefore the diagonal =30 , so there's plenty of space to put the umbrella because it's less long than the diagonal
