Multiply the numbers inside the parenthesis with the number outside. In the case of the negative, use -1

Explanation:

5(x-4)+3x-9x=6-(2x+5)+8x

5(x)- 5(4) +3x-9x=6 -(2x)-(5)+8x

5x-20+3x-9x=6-2x-5+8x

-x-20=6x+1

-x-6x=20+1

-7x=21

-7x/-7=21/-7

x=-3
