Explanation:

f(8) = 3(8)^2 + 2*8 - 2 = 3*64 + 16 - 2 = 192 + 16 - 2 = 206

f(-5) = 3(-5)^2 + 2*(-5) - 2 = 3*25 + (-10) -2 = 75 - 10 - 2 = 63

f(8) - f(-5) = 206 - 63 = 143
