What is the kinetic energy of a 2,000 kg boat moving at 5 m/s

The formula for kinetic energy is 1/2*m*v^2. Or really, this would be the average kinetic energy. Divide the mass in half then square the velocity to get (1000kg)*(25m^2/s^2) = 25,000 Jules.
