Japan is an island country not a peninsula, the dominant biome in Japan is a temperate forest or a temperate/oceanic biome. There is a desert in Japan though, called Tottori Desert. Hundreds of thousands of years of sediments being carried and deposited from the Choguku Mountains. I hope this helps in any way.
