First we need to find the slope

m = ( y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

= ( 5-3)/(-1-7)

= 2/-8

= -1/4

Point slope form is

y-y1 = m(x-x1) where m is the slope and (x1,y1) is a point on the line

y -3 = -1/4( x-7)

or using the other point

y -5 = -1/4( x--1)

y -5 = -1/4( x+1)
