X=6

First thing you want to do it separate the x and the numbers on different sides by subtracting or adding.
4x+8 = 5x +2
-4x. -4x

8=x+2
-2. -2
6=x

Answer: X = 6

Explanation:

4x + 8 = 5x + 2

-5x -5x (minus 5x from each side)

-x+8=2

-8 from each side

-x = -6

divided by -1 from each side

x = 6
