3/1 * 2/3?

I have been confused about this question because my teacher says it is 2 but i get 6/3. Please help with a step by step process!

Explanation:

First since this is a multiplication equation we can cancel out anything across from each other that you can divide by.

So, you would cancel out the two 3's and turn them both into 1

So the equation becomes 1/1*2/1

Finally you would multiply across. 1×2 to equal 2

STEPS WITHOUT CANCELING OUT:

First you would multiply the nominators and then denominators to get 6/3

Since that is an improper fraction we would have to change that to a mixed number

You need to divide the two numbers 6÷3=2

Your final answer is 2
