When you read this equation you gotta remember a few things, chill- you got this, work from left to right, and start with the parenthesis.

So out of those things I mentioned, I am pretty chill right now so let's get going! Work from left to right. Distributing the parenthesis.


4(x +3) + 5 = 73\\4x + 12 + 5 = 73

Also keep in mind what you do to one side ya do to the other.


4x + 12 + 5 = 73\\4x + 17 = 73\\

Subtract 17 from both sides.


4x = 56\\\\(4x)/(4) = x\\ \\(56)/(4) = 14

x= 14
