-7 -7

Subtract 7 from both sides (you are trying to get the variable alone, and to do that, you have to get every other number to 0. 7 - 7 = 0. BUT, whatever you do, you have to do to both sides.)

3x = 15

/3 /3

Divide both sides by three to get the variable alone.

x = 5

Now, plug in the value of x to the second equation and solve.

2(5) = ? --> 10
