Why did slaves support the British?

What percentage of colonists remained loyal to the British? (For the most part, none of them were imprisoned. Remember this when we study the French Revolution in the near future.)

Answer:

Slaves supported the British because the British has promised that the slaves will be able to fight in the Revolutionary War.

Answer:

Slaves supported the British in the Revolutionary War because the British promised that any slaves willing to fight for Parliament would be given freedom and equal rights. 20% of the colonist population were still loyal to the British power, and were named Loyalists.
